A group of Year 9 students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit a live construction site with Morgan Sindall, gaining valuable insight into the world of construction and the many career pathways within the industry.
The visit took place at the Kingswood Primary School development site in Aylesbury, where a major expansion project is currently underway. Throughout the day, students learned about the different stages involved in large-scale construction projects and discovered how sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of modern building design.
One of the most engaging aspects of the visit was exploring how renewable energy technologies and environmentally responsible practices are being incorporated into the project to help create more sustainable spaces for future communities.
Students began the day with an introduction to the project and the work of Morgan Sindall before meeting a range of professionals working on site. They had the opportunity to ask questions about different job roles, training routes and career experiences, helping them gain a broader understanding of the opportunities available within the construction industry.
A particular highlight of the day was the digital plant handling simulator, where students were able to safely experience operating machinery within a virtual environment. The visit concluded with a reflection session and follow-up activities designed to reinforce what students had learned throughout the day.
Experiences such as this play an important role in helping students connect classroom learning with real-world careers. Opportunities to engage directly with employers and industry professionals help students build confidence, develop communication skills and explore future pathways in a meaningful and inspiring way.
We would like to thank Morgan Sindall for providing such an informative and engaging experience for our students. The visit gave students a valuable insight into the construction industry and encouraged them to think positively about future careers and opportunities.

Students in Year 10 and Year 12 recently had the privilege of attending an engaging and thought-provoking assembly led by guest speaker Victoria Greenwood.
Victoria brought with her a wealth of experience and a powerful personal and professional journey spanning criminology, law and social justice. Having worked across universities, courts and prisons, she shared valuable insight into the complexities of the criminal justice system and the realities behind crime, rehabilitation and fairness in society.
Alongside her professional work, Victoria also serves as a Trustee for the Longford Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting the rehabilitation and education of people in prison.
During the assembly, students learned about Victoria’s journey into criminology and the wide range of opportunities and pathways the subject can lead to. She encouraged students to think critically about common perceptions surrounding crime and punishment, while highlighting the importance of empathy, education and second chances.
Following the assembly, Year 12 students took part in a workshop exploring these themes in greater depth. Through discussion and interactive activities, students were able to engage more personally with the issues and consider how they connect to their studies, future ambitions and wider society.
The visit provided students with a unique opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from someone working within the field and helped bring classroom learning to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
We would like to thank Victoria Greenwood for taking the time to visit Chiltern Hills Academy and share her experiences and knowledge with our students. Her honesty, insight and passion left a lasting impression on both year groups and inspired students to think more deeply about justice, society and future career opportunities.
