Examinations are an important milestone in your child’s journey at Chiltern Hills Academy. We understand they can also be a time of pressure, which is why we work hard to ensure every student feels prepared, supported, and confident.
Our aim is simple – to create the best possible environment for success, where every exam is run smoothly, fairly, and with minimal stress. This applies to both public examinations and our mock exams, which are run to the same high standards so students are familiar with the process.

You’ll find everything you need to know in our External Examinations Handbook 2024–25, including official notices required by exam regulations.
For further guidance, the Government’s Coping with Exam Pressure guide is also available online.

You can find further information in the sections below.

If you would like to be entered for a GCSE retake please complete the form by following the link below and return to Mrs Tole, Examinations Officer via email exams@chacademy.co.uk as soon as possible.
All entry requests and fee payments should be with me by 26th September 2025. Any entry requests after those dates will not be processed.
The Examining Boards issue certificates well after the examinations have taken place. When the school has received the certificates from the awarding bodies they are then prepared to be issued to the students. Students are required to collect them in person. If not possible then a friend or family member may collect them but only bearing a letter of request signed by the student and some form of photo ID, e.g. passport or driving licence.
Certificates that are not collected after 1 year of their issue are then securely destroyed. They can only be replaced by direct application to the boards by the student, and will require proof of identity such as an original birth certificate and a substantial fee per certificate.
Students will be able to collect their certificates from summer exams, between 09:30 to 14:30. It is advisable, therefore, that students collect their certificates as soon as possible after this date

The Exam Results Helpline can provide information on appeals, complaints, or what your next steps may be once you’ve received your results.
What can I do if results are substantially different from what is anticipated?
It must be remembered that examinations can only measure performance on the day, and that candidates can do better or worse than anticipated for a variety of reasons. It is advisable to obtain a copy of the script and mark scheme before proceeding to an RORs (review of result), which is very expensive. If there are serious grounds for concern about a result then the school can initiate an enquiry with the appropriate board. Details of the procedures and the fees involved are available from the Examinations Officer or on this page of the CHA website. The process should be started as soon as possible after consultation with the head of department concerned. The final date for submission to the board for posts results is to be confirmed (mid September).
Please note:
Candidates must sign a consent form before any Review of Results (RoRs) are processed.
Payment of fees must be made or your application will not be processed.
