At Chiltern Hills Academy, we believe assessment is about more than grades — it’s a tool to help every student understand where they are in their learning journey and how they can keep moving forward.
Our approach supports students to build confidence, take ownership of their progress, and become reflective, independent learners. We use a range of strategies to help them develop into the best version of themselves — academically, personally and socially.
We use assessment carefully to ensure every student is supported and challenged at the right level. Each stage of learning is planned to build knowledge, deepen understanding and address gaps.
Throughout the year, students can expect:
These regular touchpoints help students track their progress and take confident next steps in their learning.

We understand that preparing for assessments can feel overwhelming — especially for younger students and families new to secondary education.
That’s why we offer clear guidance and preparation materials for every assessment point. Our Revision and Study Skills resources support students to revise effectively and approach exams with confidence.

You can access preparation materials by year group below.
Knowledge Organisers are a key part of our curriculum. They help students focus on the most important information for each subject and build strong foundations for future learning.
Each organiser sets out the key facts, vocabulary, and concepts students need to know. They are especially useful for revision, self-quizzing and home learning.
